Uttar Pradesh: Two killed, seven injured as van rams into tree

Sonebhadra, May 14 (UNI) Two people were killed and seven others sustained serious injuries when a pick-up vehicle rammed into a tree in the Myorpur area of this district in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, police said.

The incident took place when a wedding procession from Chhattisgarh's Jalhathni village was returning from Manbasa village in the Duddhi area.


The pick-up van, carrying the marriage procession, rammed into a road side tree after the driver lost control over the wheels in an attempt to save an oncoming vehicle near the Kirbil village of the Myorpur police station area at around 1130 hrs.

Five-year-old Sant Kumar and 30-year-old Deen Dayal lost their lives in the mishap.


The injured have been admitted to the Community Health Center, Myorpur where they are undergoing treatment.


The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
