Uttar Pradesh crime: 7-yr-old raped & murdered, accused held

Sant Kabir Nagar/UNI: A man was arrested for the rape and subsequent murder of a seven-year-old girl in the Belhar area here on Saturday.

The body of the victim was also recovered based on the clues provided by the accused.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Brijesh Singh here said that one Ramshankar's daughter, who had gone to a farm from the Aurahiya-Manjhriya locality in the Belhar area, went missing on Wednesday.

Police arrested the accused Lal Bahadur, a resident of the Aklohana area in connection with the case today. During questioning, he said he had taken the girl two kilometers away from the village to the Siyarahwa ghat where he raped her.

Later, he murdered the girl and buried the victim's body there.

The SP said that the body has been sent for post-mortem after it was recovered. He said that the accused had earlier also went to jail on charges of unnatural rape and had been released on bail.

The accused has been booked under Sections 201/363/302/377/376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and been sent to jail.
