UP: Police inspector's body recovered

Siddharthnagar, May 29 (UNI) A police Inspector was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a flat of the police line premises in this district of Uttar Pradesh, official sources said on Wednesday.

According to sources, Pankaj Kumar Shahi, a resident of Pakri Babu village of the Deoria district, was deployed in the Cyber Crime Branch and had not reported on duty since May 23.

After the officials of the police department received information of a foul smell emanating from Mr Shahi's flat and the door being closed from inside, the door was broken opened on Tuesday evening and the body recovered.

Upon being intimated about the incident, Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Dharmveer and other officials of the department reached the spot and started an investigation.

The body has been sent for post-mortem.
