UP Minister Kamal Rani Varun dies due to COVID-19

Lucknow/IBNS: Uttar Pradesh Minister Kamal Rani Varun, who had earlier tested positive for COVID-19, succumbed to the virus in Lucknow on Sunday. She was 62.

According to a statement released by the UP government, the minister died at 9:30 AM at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences.

Expressing grief, UP CM Yogi Adityanath in a tweet in Hindi wrote: "I am pained by the untimely demise of my colleague and cabinet minister Kamal Rani Varun. The state today lost an efficient public leader. I express my condolences to her family members. May her soul rest in peace. Om Shanti."

She served as Minister of Technical Education in the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government.
