UP: BSP leader shot dead in Kanpur

Kanpur/UNI:  A local Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Chakeri area of Kanpur district in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.

Police said that unidentified assailants fired indiscriminately at BSP leader Pintu Sengar, who was standing outside the home of former SP district president Chandresh Singh, this afternoon.

Following the attack, the miscreants fled from the spot.

The BSP leader was rushed to the Regency Hospital in a critical state where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

Subsequently, police reached the spot and started an investigation.

SSP Dinesh Kumar Prabhu said that it has been ascertained that four unidentified miscreants fired at Pintu Sengar who also worked as a property dealer.

Police have launched a manhunt for the attackers.
