Uma Bharti announces public movement to clean Ganga, other rivers

New Delhi, June 12 (IBNS): Giving a big boost to the Ganga rejuvenation plan of the NDA government, Union Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Minister Uma Bharti on Thursday announced the launching of a big nationwide public movement for rejuvenation of Ganga and other important rivers from October this year.
Speaking to mediapersons here, she said Ganga can remain clean only with the cooperation of every citizen. 
 
She also said that a Ganga Manthan programme will be organized at Delhi to have active discussions with environmentalists, saints, scientists, NGOs and people associated with water conservation in the country. 
 
The Minister said that though this programme will be called Ganga Manthan, it will also include Yamuna and other important rivers of the country. 
 
She said outcome of this Ganga Manthan will help in the nationwide public movement on the Ganga river. 
 
Bharti said that MPs and MLAs, through whose constituency river Ganga flows, will also be actively involved in the programme. 
 
The Union Minister for Water Resources also announced that her Ministry will soon launch a website on Ganga. 
 
Suggestion for cleaning of Ganga will be invited from all over the world through this website, she added.
