Two die, one injured in road mishap in Kerala

Two persons were killed and another seriously injured when a pickup van they were riding rammed into a lorry at Kanjikode on Palakkad-Coimbatore National Highway on Sunday.

Police identified the deceased as Sivan (58) of Kodunthirapully and Nishad (35) of Mepparamba.

The driver of the pickup van Shajir (34) of Kodunthirapully, suffered serious injuries and has been admitted to the District hospital, here. All the the trio was traveling in the pickup van.

The pickup van laden with chickens was on its way from Coimbatore to Palakkad when the accident occurred, near the Kanjikode railway station on the wee hours of Sunday.

The front portion of the pickup van was fully damaged, the local people rushed the driver to a nearby hospital, and fire brigade personnel rescued the trapped victim after breaking the van by using a crane.
