Two arrested by CBI for selling, purchasing and circulating child porn on social media

New Delhi/IBNS: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two men for alleged sale/purchase of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or child porn, using e-commerce platforms and circulating them through various social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook, said media reports.

The two accused--Neeraj Kumar Yadav and Kuljeet Singh Makan--have been buying, advertising and selling child pornography to a large network since 2019.

The CBI has registered a case under section 14 of POCSO (prevention of children from sexual offences) Act, 2012 and u/s 67-B of Information Technology Act, 2000 against Neeraj Kumar Yadav.

"The accused purchased a large volume of data, from another accused person, stored over cloud-based websites, containing objectionable material including the child pornography material and made payment to him through PayTM for the same. Thereafter, the accused allegedly published an advertisement for sale of said material over Instagram," said CBI Spokesperson R C Joshi, reported media.

The accused shared the sexually explicit material which they received from a third person, depicting minors, through Whatsapp, Telegram, Instagram and other social media platforms, said Joshi.

Makan and Yadav were produced in a court in Saket and have been remanded to judicial custody till January 22, reports added.
