Total voting pct in Sikkim stands at 81.69: Chief Electoral Officer

Gangtok, May 28 (UNI): Chief Electoral Officer of Sikkim R Telang on Tuesday revealed that the total voting percentage in Sikkim stands at 81.69 per cent with postal ballots.

The tallied votes (as per Election Commission of India) have matched 100% with VVPAT. (Earlier, said to be 79% was minus postal ballots).

Telang, thanked the stakeholders, including politicians, voters and others for taking part in the recently conducted historic exercise (election 2019).

"Politicians, the biggest stakeholders cooperated with officers concerned," said he.

He has thanked Chief Secretary for cooperation, Power department for electricity supply, district returning and assistant returning officers and student volunteers who also contributed to smoothly conducting polls.

He described the 2019 elections as a historic event due to introduction of many new systems.

The new features this time included Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail, electronic transmission of postal ballots, two new apps Suvidha and Data Relief Order (DRO), for Results and other information.
