TMC MPs accuse BJP of threatening them in Parliament

New Delhi, July 8 (IBNS) Trinamool Congress MPs on Tuesday alleged that they were physically threatened and attacked by the BJP members inside Parliament during the Railway Budget speech as TV footage showed several TMC lawmakers rushing out of the House and seeking help.

TMC was angry with no announcement for West Bengal in the budget and had disrupted the speech of Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda leading to the ruckus.

TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee was seen rushing out and running outside followed by several other TMC MPs. He said the BJP MPs tried to beat them up and terrorised the women MPs.

Trinamool MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said a drunk BJP MP threatened them. BJP, however, denied it completely.

BJP MP Harish Dwivedi, accused of the attack, said they had done nothing but only intervened when TMC MPs abused Narendra Modi and called his budget one on "Adani model"

According to reports, BJP lawmaker Kalraj Mishra prevented his lawmaker from turning violent.

With the Railway Minister not announcing anything for West Bengal apparently in his budget speech, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee slammed the Railway Budget by the Narendra Modi government.

"Bengal has been neglected and humiliated by the new government at Centre." said Banerjee on a Bengali post on her Facebook page.

The high speed railway network or bullet train announcements have not included Bengal.

Promising course correction and pledging to move away from populism, Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday presented the Narendra Modi government's maiden Railway Budget focussing on a public-private partnership in infrastructure development, infusion of FDI, announcing introduction of a diamond quadrilateral of high speed trains, an inaugural bullet train service besides harping on e-ticketing augmentation, safety of passengers and cleanliness.

While the Lok Sabha was adjourned after budget speech of Sadananda Gowda amid din by disgruntled MPs of Opposition from largely TMC, Gowda promised on infrastructure and modernization besides taking forward wi-fi system.

"I have an open mind to correct," said Gowda, who emphasised on logistic parks and private freight terminals on PPP model.
