Thunderstorm likely in some Eastern, NE states during next 24 hrs
Pune, Aug 13 (UNI): Thunderstorm, accompanied by lightning, is very likely at isolated portions of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next 24 hours, predicted the Indian Meteorological Department in a bulletin here on Thursday.
The Met further said that heavy to very heavy rainfall, with extremely heavy spells, is very likely to occur at isolated places in east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Odisha, Kerala and Chhattisgarh during the period.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated divisions of east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and coastal Karnataka during the period.
Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated segments of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa, coastal Andhra Pradesh and south interior Karnataka during the period.
Strong winds, with speed reaching up to 45-55 Km per hour, are likely to prevail over north Bay of Bengal and south-west, east-central and adjoining west-central Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area during the period.
Squally winds are likely to blow over Gujarat-Maharashtra-Goa-Karnataka-Kerala-West Bengal-Odisha-south Tamil Nadu coast and Comorin (Kanyakumari) area, hence fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas during next 24 hours, the Met warned.
Thunderstorm had occurred at isolated quarters of Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, east Madhya Pradesh and coastal Karnataka during past 24 hours.
Rain or thundershowers had occurred at most belts in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands as well at many locales in Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttarakhand during the period.
They had also occurred at a few zones in east Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Lakshadweep during the period.
Isolated pockets in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, north & south interiors of Karnataka were also lashed by rains during the period.
The Southwest Monsoon had been vigorous over Odisha, and active over coastal Karnataka and Kerala during the period.
It was weaker over Arunachal Pradesh, west Rajasthan, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and north interior Karnataka during the period.
While, dry weather prevailed over Arunachal Pradesh during the period.
