Three minor students die as a boat capsizes in Korha river

Guwahati, June 23 (IBNS): Three minor students died after a boat ferrying them capsized in Korha river in Assam’s Lakhimpur district on Saturday evening.

According to the reports, the incident happened while a boat carrying the students who were on their way to reach their farmland.

The boat was capsized in mid of Korha river.

The deceased minor students were identified as 9-year-old Apu Taid, 10-year-old Teel Tau and 10-year-old Hema Pau and they are hailing from Bebjia village near Dhakuakhana area.

Locals alleged that, there is no motorable road connectivity in the area and the people have been forced to cross the Korha river to reach opposite sites.

Only country made boat is the usual mode of transport for the locals to reach nearby hospital, schools, market place.
