Sushma Swaraj meets Afghanistan president

Kabul, Sept 10 (IBNS) External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday met Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai here as both the leaders discussed ways to significantly step up activities under Strategic Partnership Agreement.

" India-Afghanistan ties to the fore. External Affairs Minister @SushmaSwaraj in Kabul. Meets Prez Karzai," MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin tweeted.

"India-Afghanistan discuss ways to significantly step up activities under Strategic Partnership Agreement ," he said.

Swaraj said India would always be Afghanistan's first strategic partner.

"India will always be Afghanistan's first strategic partner. We are committed to assisting Afghanistan in whatever manner is possible within our means," Swaraj said  at the inauguration of Flag Monument in Kabul.

"On behalf of the people and the Government of India I wish to felicitate the people of Afghanistan on the inauguration of this National Monument," she said.
