New Delhi/UNI: The Supreme Court Thursday sentenced Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu to one-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) in a 1988 road rage case.

In 2018, the apex court acquitted the cricketer-turned-politician of homicide charges but convicted him for voluntarily causing hurt to the victim.

In Sept 2018, the top court gave its assent to consider a plea seeking a review of its May 15, 2018 order.

Sidhu has to surrender before the court.

The case involves charges that Sidhu had beaten Gurnam Singh on his head, causing his death on Dec 27, 1988.

Reacting to the verdict, Sidhu tweeted, "Will submit to the majesty of law …."
