So much for 'sab ka saath': Omar Abdullah takes dig at PM Modi

| @indiablooms | Feb 22, 2019, at 08:33 pm

Srinagar, Feb 22 (IBNS): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence on the attacks on Kashmiris across the country in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack, which claimed the lives of 40 CRPF jawans.

Quoting his slogan "Sab ka saath...", Abdullah said that even as the allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reacted, Modi remains silent on the issue.

In a tweet, Abdullah wrote: "The Akali Dal has spoken, the Shiv Sena surprised us all by publicly rebuking people threatening Kashmiris in Maharashtra, Nitish Kumar ji has opposed talk of revoking Art370. These are all major allies of PM Modi. What has Modi ji said? Nothing! So much for “sub ka saath......

This comes after two Kashmiri students were attacked by a group of political activists in Maharashtra's Yavatmal on Wednesday night.

A video clip of the assault became viral on social media. This incident is the latest in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack.

According to reports, the eight accused of the assault were members of the Yuva Sena, the youth wing of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena.

Following a First Information Report (FIR) filed at a local station, police arrested them.

The Yuva Sena has also taken action against them.

Even the Shiv Sena slammed the attack and Yuva Sena president Aditya Thackeray informed the activists involved were sacked by the party.

Aditya Thackeray tweeted: "There was an unfortunate incident yest in Yavatmal, with some students of Jammu & Kashmir. The @ShivSena had issued a press note yesterday itself which hasn’t been printed today, may be to further sensationalise the issue or defame us, while ignoring our disciplinary action."

"As of last evening, the Party has sacked those involved in the act. J&K is a part of India and no Indian, or for that matter, nobody should face the brunt of anger that is towards terrorism. We understand the angst but it must be against terror, not innocent people," he wrote.

The two Kashmiri students of the Dahyabhai Patel Sharirik Shikshan Mahavidyalaya were attacked while they were returning to their rented accommodation from a market in the city's Chintamani Nagar area late on Wednesday night.
