'Show compassion for us also': Kangana Ranaut hits out at Jaya Bachchan over Parliament speech

| @indiablooms | Sep 15, 2020, at 07:25 pm

New Delhi/IBNS: Indian actress Kangana Ranaut, who has been taking on her colleagues over the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, on Tuesday hit out at veteran Bollywood star-turned parliamentarian Jaya Bachchan after the latter slammed an alleged attempt to tarnish the image of the Hindi film industry.

Taking the names of Bachchan's daughter and son, Ranaut tweeted, "Jaya ji would you say the same thing if in my place it was your daughter Shweta beaten, drugged and molested as a teenage, would you say the same thing if Abhieshek complained about bullying and harassment constantly and found hanging one day? Show compassion for us also."

Hitting out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravi Kishan, who on the opening day of Parliament's monsoon session said "drug addiction is in the film industry too", Bachchan, who represents Samajwadi Party (SP) in the Rajya Sabha, said, "The government must stand by the entertainment industry because the entertainment industry always comes forward to help the government in whatever good work it takes up.

"They come and speak for them and support the government. If there is a national calamity, the film industry comes forward, they give money, services. I think it is very important the government must support the film industry and not kill it because there are few people, one cannot tarnish the image of the entire industry."

"I was ashamed yesterday that one of the members in the Lok Sabha, who is from the industry itself, spoke ill of the industry. Jis thali mein khate hain usi me chched karte hain (Bite the hand that feeds you)," she added.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has already arrested Rajput's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty for allegedly organising drugs for the late actor, who was undergoing mental depression.

Chakraborty, as per reports, has named Bollywood actors Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh and designer Simone Khambatta in her statement to the NCB.
