Shiv Sena wrests two seats from NCP, Shetkari Sanghstana in Kohlapur

Kolhapur, May 24 (UNI): Bhartiya Janata party (BJP) -Shiv Sena (SS) alliance wrested two seats of the district--Kolhapur and Hatkanangale while BJP succeed to retain the lone Sangli Lok Sabha seat in neighbouring Sangli district by defeating Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Kolhapur and Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghstana in Hatkanangale and Sangli parliamentary constituencies.

In the final result, announced after midnight in all three Lok Sabha constituencies by district returning officers of Kolhapur and Sabfli district, SS candidate Sanjay Mandlik won the Kolhapur seat by defeating sitting MP and NCP candidate Dhananjay Mahadik with a margin of 2,70,568 votes. Mr Mandlik polled 7,49,085 while Mr Mahadik got 4,78,517. Total 15 candidates contested the election and total 13 candidates lost their deposits.

In Hatkanangale, Dharysheel Mane, son of former NCP MP Ms Nivedita Mane, wrested the seat from SS national president and MP Raju Shetty by 96,166 votes and devastated the dream of Mr Shetty to enter in parliament for third time. Mr Mane polled 5,85,497 while Mr Shetty got 4,89,331 votes. Total 16 candidates were in fray from Hatkanangale loksabha constituency and total 14 candidates lost their deposits.

While in neighbouring Sabfli district, BJP candidate Sanjaykaka Patil succeed to retain his seat by defeating his nearest rival Vishal Patil (SSS). Winner Mr Patil polled 5,08,995 votes, Vishal Patil as 3,44,663 votes and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi candidate Gopichand Padalkar with 3,00,234 votes came on third place. Total 12 candidates contested the election and last nine candidates lost their deposits.
