Shiv Sena lends support to Mumbai DIG accused of rape

| | Aug 02, 2014, at 07:05 pm
Mumbai, Aug 2 (IBNS): Shiv Sena in Maharashtra has lent support to Mumbai DIG Sunil Paraskar, who has been accused of rape by a model, saying it has become fashionable to slap such charges against people.

In its party mouthpiece Saamna, Shiv Sena said often it is trial by media in such cases and called Paraskar a respected cop.

Sena said the case has been hyped because of the status of Paraskar as senior cop.

The model had alleged that Paraskar had molested her in a Navi Mumbai apartment when he was additional commissioner (northern region). She also accused him of raping her in a Madh Island bungalow, charges denied by Paraskar.

However, Paraskar admitted that he had interacted with the model often and knew her and had also accompanied her to the bungalow.
