Shatrughan Sinha joins Congress, calls BJP 'one man show, two men Army'

New Delhi, Apr 6 (IBNS): Joining the Congress party on Saturday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s rebel MP Shatrughan Sinha called the saffron outfit "one man show and two men Army" with a reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah.

Sinha, an MP from Bihar's Patna Sahib, was vocal against the works of Modi and BJP for last few years despite being in the saffron party.

The actor-turned politician joined Congress after he was denied a ticket by the BJP to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Sinha, who is likely to contest as a Congress candidate from Patna Sahib, will face Union Minister and BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Sinha praises Rahul Gandhi

Joining the Congress, Sinha came out with all praises for his new chief Rahul Gandhi.

Admiring Congress' proposal of NYAY scheme, which will help poor people to achieve minimum income of Rs. 12,000 per month, Sinha said it was an unprecedented proposal for people.

Hitting out at Modi for criticising NYAY, Sinha said: "Why it is such that whatever you (Narendra Modi) do is fine but our promises are wrong? People are awakening. People now know BJP's bluffs."

"Rahul Gandhi has won three state elections recently. He is a tried, tested and successful leader," the new Congress leader said about his party chief.

Sinha's political career

Shatrughan Sinha remained the Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar between 1996 and 2008. He served as the Union Cabinet Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Shipping under the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the time period of 2002 to 2004.

He has been the Lok Sabha MP from Patna Sahib from 2009.

Sonakshi Sinha supports father

Shatrughan Sinha's actress daughter Sonakshi has fully supported her father's decision to switch party.

"I think it was the time for him to move on. I think he has done it a bit too late. He should have done it long back," Sonakshi had said.

The Bollywood actress said: "It is important to bring about a change if one is not happy somewhere with the way things are going on. He did that. I hope he won't feel suppressed in this new organisation."
