Security forces apprehend hardcore NDFB-S militant with arms

Guwahati, May 30 (IBNS): The security forces have apprehended a hardcore militant of banned outfit NDFB-S and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in possession from him in Assam’s Kokrajhar district.

Acting on a tip-off, army and Kokrajhar district police had jointly launched operation and set up a check point at Kachugaon area on Wednesday and nabbed the NDFB-S militant identified as Rahitan Narzary.

Security personnel had recovered one 7.65mm pistol, 15 rounds live ammunition, one magazine in possession from him.

Later, security personnel had also recovered one AK-56 rifle, one magazine and 21 rounds ammunition from his house, which were buried.

“Sources had informed us that, a NDFB militant named Rahitan Narzary is trying to go to Chirang side with weapons. Following the information, army and police had jointly launched operation and set up a check point at Kachugaon area and nabbed the militant. We had recovered one 7.65mm pistol, 15 rounds live ammunition. Later, we had recovered one AK-56 rifle with magazine and 21 rounds ammunition from his house, which were buried,” a police official said.

The police official further said that, the nabbed militant was earlier arrested in 2017 and he again joined the banned outfit after releasing from jail.
