SC refuses to impose governor rule in J&K

Srinagar, July 29 (IBNS): The Supreme Court on Friday refused to impose Governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir, but asked the union government for a status report on the ground level situation, reports said.

The Supreme Court was hearing a petition filed by the J&K Panther’s Party chief Bhim Singh.

As per reports, the court directed the Solicitor General of India to file before it a status report on the ground situation in the state.

The SC, however, warned the petitioner that he should not make political use out of this petition while also stated that the Bench would take stock of the situation.

The petitioner also mentioned before the Bench that the medical supplies were inadequate in the state where several are being treated for injuries in the wake of the protests.

The petitioner had stated that the whole of Jammu and Kashmir was paralysed in the wake of the on-going protests and hence Governor’s rule be imposed.
