SC Judge Rao recuses from hearing Saradha chit fund case

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Justice L Nageswara Rao, who was one of the judges in the SC division bench hearing the Saradha chit fund scam and contempt case, on Wednesday recused from hearing the contempt petition filed by CBI against West Bengal Chief Secretary and Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar in the Saradha chit fund scam case.

The contempt petition was filed by the CBI against West Bengal Chief Secretary and Kolkata Police Commissioner, Rajeev Kumar, for allegedly not cooperating with the investigating agency in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam case.

The top court fixed the matter for further hearing to February 26.

"I recuse from hearing the case," Justice Rao said.

Supreme Court had on Tuesday fixed for Wednesday the matter related to initiate contempt proceedings against West Bengal Chief Secretary, DGP and Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar for alleged non-cooperation in a case connected with the Saradha chit fund scam.
