Sarabjit Singh's sister Dalbir Kaur slams Imran Khan over forced conversion of Pakistani Sikh girl

In a video message, she said people should not stop protesting until Imran Khan condemns the incident and tenders an apology to not just the Sikh community but also to India for the incident.

A daughter of a Sikh priest in Pakistan-Jagjit Kaur- was allegedly abducted, converted to Islam and then married to a Muslim man in Pakistan. The incident agitated people of the Sikh community across the globe.

"We should not keep quiet," she said.

"We should come out together and raise voices now," she said.

"Tomorrow in Sirsa, we are going to take out a protest march," she said and urged people to join it.

She asked why "Khan's friends" Gopal Singh Chawla and Gurpatwant Singh Pannu are silent and have not reacted to the forced conversion of the Sikh girl.

"I want to ask Chawla, Pannu and my brother Sidhu (Indian politician and ex-cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu) why did they not speak on the issue? Why did you not condemn the incident? Why did you vanish?" she asked. 

In 2013, Kaur's brother Sarabjit Singh was on death row but was killed by inmates in a Pakistani jail, triggering widespread condemnation in India.

Meanwhile, India has raised concerns with Pakistan over the recent episode of abduction, forced conversion and marriage of two Sikh women in Pakistan.

India's Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday said Indian people and civil societies have condemned the incidents.

"The civil society & the people of India have strongly condemned the recent deplorable incidents of forced abduction, conversion & marriage of two Sikh girls in Pakistan. We have reflected these strong concerns with Pakistan and have asked for immediate remedial action," MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.

The family members of Jagjit Kaur, who was allegedly abducted and forcefully converted to Islam, have rejected reports that their girl has returned home.

A family member (brother) was quoted as saying in a video that was shared by Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa: "Our sister has not returned home."

"These are wrong reports," he said.

He said no arrests have been made in the case so far.

"I appeal to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Army Chief and Punjab Governor to ensure justice to us," he said.

Sirsa also highlighted the plight of one Payal Devi who had faced similar fate as Kaur.

Sirsa tweeted: "This seems to be a trend in Pakistan; girls of minority group are abducted & converted to Islam and then forced to admit it on video that they did it with free will Sharing the sad story of Payal Devi D/O Manghoomal Watwani from Sindh who met same fate as Jagjit Kaur, 2 mnths ago."
