Salman Khan served Supreme Court notice in poaching case

New Delhi, July 9 (IBNS): The Supreme Court has issued notice to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the case of poaching of black buck in 1998 during the shooting of a film in Rajasthan.

The black buck killing dates back to 1998 when Khan and other actors, including Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam, were shooting there for the film "Hum Saath Saath Hain."

The top court issued the notice after a petition was filed by the Rajasthan government challenging a High Court order suspending Khan's conviction in the case.

Salman Khan was charged under the Wildlife Protection Act with hunting and inciting to hunt endangered black bucks, and unlawful assembly.

Salman Khan had been convicted earlier for 1 year and 5 years for poaching of two Chinkaras at Bhawad and one Black Buck at Ghoda Farm (Mathania) in Sept 1998.

Salman Khan had to appear before a Jodhpur trial court earlier and record his statement in the Arms Act case against him which is connected to the poaching of   black buck.

Salman Khan is also embroiled in a hit and run case in Mumbai dating back to 2002 in which a pavement dweller had died.
