Sai Baba ate meat, cannot be regarded as Hindu god: Shankaracharya

New Delhi, July 3 (IBNS): Triggering a new controversy, Hindu religious leader Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati has said that Sai Baba was one who ate meat and cannot be regarded as a "Hindu God".
"He was one who used to eat meat and worshipped Allah, (and) a man like that can never be a Hindu god," Shankaracharya told CNN-IBN channel.

While he admitted that people have the freedom to worship, he told the channel that Sai Baba tries to position himself as god which is not acceptable to them.

Following his remark, the Sai temple in Lucknow has filed a petition in Allahabad High Court seeking an FIR against him.

The court will hear the case on Friday.

A case has also been filed against Shankaracharya Saraswati in Jaipur.

Shankaracharya has received the support of the Naga seers.
