RPF recover gold bars worth Rs 1.12 crore, nab four persons in Assam’s Barpeta

Guwahati/IBNS: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) have recovered gold bars worth Rs 1.12 crore and apprehended four persons in Assam’s Barpeta district.

On receipt of information, RPF team from Guwahati comprising Sub Inspector Madhab Ekka, Constable Kamal Hussain, Dharmendra Yadab and Inderjeet conducted raid in train no 05909 DN (Avadh Assam Exp) from Guwahati to Barpeta Road station.

During raid they apprehended four persons identified as Padma Saha, Sandhya Das, Md. Ansarul Alom, Prabir Sarkar, all hailing from West Bengal, from berth number 25, 26, 32, 34 (coach No A-1) of the passenger train.

During the search operation, the RPF team recovered 13 pieces of gold bars weighing about 2.15 kg from their possession.

A top official of Northeastern Railway said that, the recovered gold bars worth Rs 1.12 crore were kept concealed in shoes, bags and waist bands.

Later, the apprehended persons were taken into custody by DRI, Guwahati for necessary action.
