Rhea Chakraborty gets bail in drug case, no relief for brother Showik

Mumbai/IBNS: The Bombay High Court granted bail with conditions to Indian actor Rhea Chakraborty, who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on drug charges related to the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput, on Wednesday.

This happened after a special Mumbai court extended the judicial custody of Chakraborty, who was dating Rajput, till Oct 20 on Tuesday.

Chakraborty will have to submit Rs. 1 lakh as a bond and mark her presence at her nearest police station for 10 days since her release.

She will also have to submit her passport and can only travel with the court's permission.

Rajput's employees Dipesh Sawant and Samuel Miranda have also been granted bail.

However, Chakraborty's brother Showik, who was arrested on the same charge, has got no reprieve from the Supreme Court.

The NCB came into action after the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which was probing into the money laundering charge brought against Chakraborty by the late Bollywood star's father KK Singh, came across chats pertaining to drug consumption, procurement, usage and transportation in connection with the death case.

Chakraborty, who was arrested on Sept 9, has been accused of arranging drugs for her boyfriend Rajput, who was found dead at his own flat in Mumbai's Bandra on Jun 14.

The popular actor's death had triggered a demand of a justice for him by several of his fans and few Hindi film personalities who had come up with a murder theory behind Rajput's death.

However, in an interesting turn of events, a team of doctors from Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) had last week ruled out the murder theory of Rajput.

The AIIMS panel has reportedly agreed with the autopsy report of a Mumbai hospital which had found "asphyxia due to hanging" as the cause of the death.
