Dubai, Jan 13 (IBNS): Congress president Rahul Gandhi promised non-resident Indians in the UAE to be their voice in India addressing a gathering of Indians in Dubai during his two-day trip to the country this weekend.

Dubbing him "a rockstar politician with dreams of a new India", The Khaleej Times said Rahul "struck the right notes on pluralism and compassion".

"We are going to make sure that your voice is heard in your country," he said to loud applause.

Rahul tweeted several pictures of him holding meetings with various UAE leaders and addressing gatherings.

"It was a pleasure to meet with Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, the ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah. We had a cordial discussion that covered a range of issues. I look forward to working with him to strengthen the bonds between our countries," he said.

With pictures of him speaking to a packed stadium, he wrote: "I am humbled by the love of the Indian community here in the UAE & their infectious enthusiasm & energy that helped make our visit a big success. I want to thank all the volunteers from the Congress Party, IUML, KMCC & local organisations for their hard work. I salute you all!"
