New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday slammed the Centre over the recent hike in LPG cylinder price.

Citing that the price of a LPG cylinder during the Congress-led UPA government was Rs 410, while in the BJP regime Rs 999, he said, "Two cylinders then for the price of one now."

"Only Congress governs for the welfare of poor & middle class Indian families. It’s the core of our economic policy," he said.

The price of LPG was increased by Rs 50 on Saturday.

The Congress party demanded that the government should bring the LPG prices down to the 2014 level.
