New Delhi/UNI: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has slammed the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre as the new rates of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on several household items, including curd and paneer comes into force from Monday.

"HIGH taxes, NO jobs. BJP’s masterclass on how to destroy what was once one of the world’s fastest growing economies," he wrote in a tweet, attacking the ruling dispensation.

The former Congress president along with his post on social media also shared a graphic listing the items in which GST has been imposed, and it reads, "Gabbar Singh strikes again! What gets costlier from today."

Earlier this month, the Congress had called the new tax regime "flawed and unstable" and demanded the Centre to scrap it.

"The GST has serious birth defects. In the last five years these defects have only become worse.

The so-called GST that is enforced today was not the GST envisaged by the Congress-led UPA government, " Chidambaram had said.
