New Delhi/IBNS: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has changed his Twitter profile photo a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi did the same as part of his call "Har Ghar Tiranga" celebration to mark the 75th year of India's independence.

Gandhi's new Twitter profile photo has a gradient image of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru holding the national flag.

The former PM is in black and white and the national flag is in colour.

"The tricolour is the country's pride. It is in the heart of every citizen," Gandhi tweeted in Hindi.

His sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also followed suit and so did other Congress leaders.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday urged people to put the "tiranga" ('tricolour', the national flag) as their display pictures on social media profiles between Aug 2 and 15.

In his 'Mann Ki Baat' radio broadcast, he flagged a movement called 'Har Ghar Tiranga' (tricolour on every house) being organised from Aug 13 to 15.

"By becoming a part of this movement, from August 13 to 15, you must hoist the tricolour at your home, or adorn your home with it. The tricolour connects us, inspires us to do something for the country," he had said.

"I also have a suggestion that from the 2nd of August to the 15th of August, all of us can place the tricolour in our social media profile pictures," he had added.
