Rafale case: Centre files fresh affidavit today
New Delhi, May 4 (UNI): The Centre on Saturday filed a fresh affidavit in connection with the alleged Rafale scam case, claiming that the Supreme Court's well reasoned Dec 14, 2018 order which gave a clean chit to the government could not be relooked merely on the basis of some stolen documents revealing incomplete file notings.
The decisions by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), the highest decision-making body in the Government on defence matters and also by Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), the highest decision making body in the Ministry of Defence have been made keeping in view all the facts of the case, the affidavit stated.
The actions of the petitioners tantamount to questioning the sovereign decision concerning national security and defence.
It is further submitted by the Centre in its affidavit that the monitoring of the progress by the PMO of this government-to-government process cannot be construed as an interference or parallel negotiations, the affidavit further claimed.
The apex court three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, will likely to take up the matter on May 6, Monday.
