Punjab sarpanch shot dead by 2 unidentified assailants

A prominent political leader of Tarn Taran Constituency and the Sarpanch of Adda Jhabal, Aman Kumar, alias Sonu Cheema, was shot dead by two unidentified motorcycle-borne youth on Sunday.

According to police, when Sonu Cheema was in the hair-cutting saloon on Bhikhi Wind Road two unidentified youth came on a motorcycle with —one person sitting outside after starting the two-wheeler and the another came inside the saloon and opened fire on the sarpanch.

They later escaped.

Police said, "Sonu Cheema was admitted to a private hospital in Amritsar in criticial condition where he died while undergoing treatment."
