New Delhi, July 30 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday directed Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to rush to Pune to take stock of the situation following the landslide in Ambegaon village, which claimed at least 10 lives.
Eighty personnel of the National Disaster Response Force have reached the spot for relief and rescue operations.

The Prime Minister has condoled the loss of lives in the landslide and directed all possible efforts to help the affected people.

At least ten died while more than 150 others were feared trapped under debris as landslides hit Maharashtra's Ambegaon village, about 120 km from Pune on Wednesday, said media reports.

Officials said the landslide occurred at around 10:45 AM. More than 40 houses were hit, said reports.

Heavy rains have lashed the area.

Local NCP MLA Dilip Walse told  news channel CNN IBN that the connectivity in the area is poor.

He said, "This is a very remote area and connectivity is poor. This is a heavy rain area. The Revenue commissioner is monitoring the rescue operation from Pune."
