Puducherry: Man attempts to commit suicide

Puducherry, Sep 6 (UNI) Tension prevailed as a man attempted to commit suicide in front of the office of the Director General of Police here on Friday.

According to sources, the man identified as Manimaran an Aam Aadmi Party activist doused himself with Kerosene at tried to set him ablaze.
The police man on duty at the gate of the DGP office caught hold of him and with the help of two other police personnel he was overpowered and poured water all over his body.

Later he was taken away in a police jeep to the Grand bazaar police station.

Manimaran alleged that he was being threatened by a group and wanted to initiate action against them.
