Puducherry: Girl commits suicide three days before her marriage

Puducherry, Apr 17 (UNI) A girl allegedly committed suicide just three days before her marriage on Tuesday.

According to police, Sudha (42) of Muthirapalayam, a widow arranged marriage for her daughter Soorya (18), for which Sudha sought loans from different persons to meet the marriage expenses but wasn't able to arrange enough money.

However, at the last minute, she got financially broken and couldn't meet the needs.

Sudha informed this to her daughter and got depressed. Pained over this, the girl consumed rat pesticide as she felt like a burden to her mother and was rushed to the government general hospital here, the police said.

On advise from the hospital, she was taken to Chennai for special treatment. However, she died on Tuesday evening.

A case has been registered under Mettupalayam police .
