Srinagar/IBNS: Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party president Mir Junaid on Friday said he was proud to be born in the country of Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of the 151st birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.

Junaid tweeted, "Words are not enough to praise the man who established & taught the power of power of peace to the world. Mahatma Gandhi is just not a figure of respect to India but he & his life inspire people across nationalities. Proud to be borne in the India of Gandhi! Happy Gandhi Jayanti!" (sic)

Mahatma, born as Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in 1869 in Porbandar (Gujarat) to Putlibai and Karamchand Gandhi, was a lawyer-turned activist who had shaped India’s freedom struggle against the British Government.

His method of ‘Ahimsa’ (Non-Violence) against the oppressing force, catapulted him as a world leader.
