Pregnant Indian woman, husband found dead in apparent suicide-murder case in US

Jersey City/IBNS: A 35-year-old pregnant woman was found murdered in her apartment with multiple injuries in her upper body by Jersey City police while her husband was found dead in the Hudson River close by, said media reports.

Garima Kothari was five months pregnant and she was a talented chef. Her 37-year-old husband Man Mohan Mall was an India Institute of Technology (IIT), alumnus and was pursuing a research program at Columbia University. The couple also ran a restaurant "Nukkad" a few blocks away from their highrise apartment.

The Regional Medical Examiner in its report said Kothari was murdered.

Mall who was found dead by the Jersey City Police Department after it responded to a report of a probable suicide attempt. His cause of death has not been ascertained as the postmortem report is yet to come, said the reports.

The Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit is probing the case along with the Jersey City Police Department, added reports.
