Srinagar/UNI: A policeman was killed and two others were injured in a militant attack in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Thursday.

This is the second attack by militants in the valley in less than 24 hours. Earlier, two BSF jawans were killed in a militant attack in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal.

Official sources told UNI that militants fired at a joint checkpoint of police and CRPF at Prichoo in Pulwama, resulting in injuries to three policemen. The injured were immediately taken to a hospital, where one of them succumbed.

They said the deceased policeman has been identified as Anoop Singh.

The militants managed to escape the spot, adding additional security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers, they added.

“Checkpoint has been established within 3 km radius from the attack site and vehicles are being checked before allowing them to move forward,” they stated.

On Wednesday, two motorcycle borne militants attacked a BSF Road Opening Party (ROP) at Pandach chowk in Ganderbal, resulting in death of two soldiers.
