Policeman allegedly molests woman complainant at police station in Thane, booked
Thane, July 1 (UNI): A police constable attached to the Padgha police station under Bhiwandi division in the district rural police has been booked for an alleged molestation of a woman complainant, the police said Monday.
The SHO at the Padgha police station said an offence under various sections of the IPC has been registered against the alleged accused with the police following a complaint by the victim, a homemaker.
The police said the victim a 28-year-old married housewife had filed a complaint against her husband and in- laws of harassment on Apr 17. The FIR under various sections of the IPC had been registered with Padgha police then.
The policeman called her under the pretext of carrying out a probe into the complaint and when she came to the police station allegedly made advances and molested her, the police said.
The police gave the name of the accused as Devidas Chavan and added that since the registration of the offence against him he is at large.
The police also said the policeman wanted the victim to come out with him for an outing to a restaurant as she was alone and also made several calls to her making advances.
Fed up with the repeated act of the constable, the victim filed a complaint with the Thane District Rural DSP Dr. Shivaji Rathod who in turn directed the police station in-charge to probe into the complaint after which the present offence was registered.
