Police reach Delhi minister Atishi's home to serve notice on AAP MLA poaching allegations

New Delhi: A team of the Delhi Police crime branch arrived at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi Marlena’s residence on Sunday to serve her a notice regarding the party’s allegations against the BJP for attempting to poach AAP MLAs.

Atishi was not at home when the team reached her residence, sources said.

This comes a day after crime branch officials visited Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s home and served him a notice after five hours, asking him to reply within three days.

They also asked him to reveal the names of AAP MLAs who claimed to have been approached by the BJP.

Kejriwal shared a video on X, taking a dig at Delhi Police. Expressing mock sympathy for the police officers, he said they were sent to serve him a notice and engage in political drama when it's their duty to stop crime in Delhi. That is why crime is rising in Delhi, he added.

“I sympathise with this crime branch police officers. What is their fault? Their job is to stop crime in Delhi. But instead of stopping crime, this kind of drama is being done. That is why crime is increasing so much in Delhi,” he posted on X.

“Their (BJP) political masters are asking me which ‘AAP’ MLA was targeted? But you know more than me? You know everything? Why only Delhi, do you know which MLAs from other parties and which governments were toppled in the last few years across the country? Then why this drama?" he questioned.

Last week, Kejriwal, in a social media post on X, alleged that the BJP is making attempts to topple the government in the national capital by offering Rs 25 crore and election tickets to its party MLAs.

Following Kejriwal’s remarks, Delhi Minister Atishi claimed in a press conference that the BJP initiated "Operation Lotus 2.0" in Delhi.

"They had made a similar attempt to poach AAP MLAs last year by offering them money but failed," she further asserted.
