As I’d said a few days ago, I’m signing off. Through the day, seven women achievers will share their life journeys and perhaps interact with you through my social media accounts."

The announcement came a day after Modi said he was thinking of giving up his social media accounts, leading speculations over his quit from accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

Soon after Modi signed off from his accounts, one woman achiever identified as Sneha Mohandoss shared her inspirational story' through the PM's account.

International Women's Day is celebrated across the world to convey respect, love and appreciation towards every woman.

Started as a socialist political event for the first time in 1909, the day blended in the culture of many countries, primarily in Europe, including Russia. In some regions, the day lost its political flavour and became simply an occasion for men to express their love for women in a way.
