Pakistan should not interfere in India's affairs: New Delhi on Islamabad's Ram Temple reaction

New Delhi/IBNS: India on Thursday said in strong words that Pakistan should refrain from interfering in India's internal matters, a day after Islamabad slammed the construction of Ram Temple in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya.

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry on Wednesday described the Supreme Court judgement, which paved the way for the construction of the Ram Temple, as "flawed".

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said, "We have seen the press statement by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on a matter internal to India.  It should desist from interfering in India’s affairs and refrain from communal incitement.

"While this is not a surprising stance from a nation that practices cross border terrorism and denies its own minorities their religious rights, such comments are nevertheless deeply regrettable."

Pakistan Foreign Office had issued a statement saying, "The flawed judgement of the Indian Supreme Court paving the way for construction of the temple not only reflected the preponderance of faith over justice but also the growing majoritarianism in today’s India, where minorities, particularly Muslims and their places of worship, are increasingly under attack."

Lord Ram is in India's ideals and faith: PM Modi, laying foundation stone of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya

Drawing curtains on a 70-year legal battle in independent India and 90 years during the British rule, the Supreme Court had ruled on Nov 9, 2019 that the disputed land at Ayodhya should be given to the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas.

Modi on Wednesday went to Ayodhya to lay the foundation stone, also known as "Bhoomi Pujan".
