Opposition siding with middlemen and misleading farmers: Yogi Adityanath

Bareilly/UNI: Launching a scathing attack on the oppositions, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that they are fighting the battle of the middlemen and brokers and misleading the farmers.

Yogi, who was addressing a gathering of farmers in Bareilly on Thursday, said “The opposition is plotting to mislead the farmers by spreading rumours about end of Minimum Support Price (MSP) and the mandi system. They are fighting the battle of middlemen and brokers.”

The UP CM said the vested interests of the opposition are creating hurdles on the path of welfare of the farmers.

These people could not digest the betterment of the farmers. "Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi is dedicatedly working for the betterment of the farmers ensuring that they get all facilities – be it seeds, fertilizers, markets, MSP, etc," he pointed out.

He said that the farmers’ loans to the tune of Rs 36,000 Crores have already been waived off and the central cabinet yesterday decided to send Rs 3500 Crores worth of sugarcane export subsidy directly in the accounts of the farmers.

“The benefits of the schemes are directly reaching the farmers and this is why they (opposition) are having problems. They were always involved in robbing the rights of the farmers. Now there are no middlemen between the government and the farmers and that is why they are disturbed,” he said.

"The government is giving the guarantee of the MSP and the central cabinet has also increased it. The new bill will ensure a healthy competition in the market and the farmers will get higher prices for their produce. The farmers can sell their crops anywhere and there will be no taxes anywhere outside the Mandi," said the UP CM.

“Those who do not like the progress and prosperity of the farmers are into spreading rumours. Soon after the formation of the BJP government in UP in 2017, loans of 86 lakh farmers were waived off. We are continuously buying the produce of the farmers and purchase centres are been opened across the state," he added.

In the previous governments, sugar mills were closing one by one and for six years, sugarcane dues of the farmers were not cleared, he said

“We sent Rs 1,12000 Crore of sugarcane dues directly in the accounts of the farmers. More than Rs 22,000 Crores have been sent to the accounts of the farmers under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme and the next instalment of Rs 4,300 Crore is coming soon and it will also be sent directly to the accounts of the farmers,” added the Uttar Pradesh CM.
