Cuttack, Sep 20 (UNI) A major fire broke out in the third-floor office of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd(BSNL office today seriously affecting telecom services in the twin cities of Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and some other parts of Odisha.

The fire was reported at around 1100 hours of the BSNL office located at Bajrakbati Road in the heart of the Cuttack city.

Though the exact cause of the fire is not yet to be ascertained the fire brigade personnel suspected that it could be due to short circuit.

Sources said the fire was first noticed in a room used for storing cables, wires and power batteries. Later it spread to other rooms triggering panic among the employees who ran out of the building for safety.

As many as five fire tenders and about 50 fire brigade personnel were pressed into service to douse the flame. The fire was brought under control after four hours.
