Mumbai/IBNS: Amid the nationwide outrage over the RG Kar case, a nursing trainee has been allegedly raped by an auto-rickshaw driver in Maharashtra's Ratnagiri district, media reports said.

The 19-year-old victim, who was taking an auto ride home, was offered water by the driver.

The water was spiked and she felt unconscious.

The driver allegedly took the girl to a deserted place and raped her.

After gaining consciousness, the girl contacted her family and filed a police complaint.

A First Information Report has been registered and police are in search of the accused.

The victim is recovering at a state-run hospital.

The incident happened amid the nationwide outrage over the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata's state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on the intervening night on August 8 and 9.

One person, a civic volunteer, has been arrested by police in connection with the case but protesting students as well as the victim's parents suspect more people are involved in the case, which is now being probed by the CBI.
