Now some people are smelling mischief even in 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai': PM Modi attacks Mamohan Singh

New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hit out at former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who had a few days ago said that "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" was being misused for creating a "militant and purely emotional" idea of India that excludes millions of its citizens.

Addressing BJP's Parliamentary Board in Delhi on Tuesday, without naming Singh, Modi said some people have a problem even with "Bharat Mata Ki Jai". Earlier, people raised objections to "Vande Mataram" but now they cannot tolerate "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" either.

"Ab kuch logon ko Bharat Mata Ki Jai bolne me bhi boo aa rahi he (Now some people are smelling mischief in 'Bharat Mata ki Jai')," he said.

Without naming Manmohan Singh, Modi said: "While we are working for the country, there are some( opposition leaders) who are working for the existence of their party."

The Prime Minister said this referring to Manmohan Singh's speech on Feb 22 at the unveiling of the book "Who is Bharat Mata" by Purushottam Agarwal and Radha Krishna on first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru's works and speeches.

Manmohan Singh had said if India is recognised in the comity of nations as a vibrant democracy and, if it is considered as one of the important world powers, it was because of the Jawaharlal Nehru who had carved India's identity.
