'Not joining politics': Rajinikanth citing health condition

| @indiablooms | Dec 29, 2020, at 06:20 pm

Chennai/IBNS: In a U-turn from his previous decision, Tamil actor-turned politician Rajinikanth on Tuesday announced he won't take a plunge into politics owing to his health condition.

Rajinikanth, who was about to make an announcement on Dec 31, said the health condition is a warning for him to not jump into electoral politics.

The superstar has said he would work for people without joining in politics.

"If I campaign only through the media and social media after I start the party, I will not be able to create the political upheaval and win big in the (upcoming Tamil Nadu) elections. No one with political experience will deny this reality," he said in Tamil.

"I will do what I can to serve the people without getting into electoral politics. I have never hesitated to speak the truth and I sincerely request the fans and the people of Tamil Nadu, who love truth and transparency, who care about my well-being, who love me and live for me, and the people of Tamil Nadu, to accept this decision of mine," he added.

Rajinikanth, 70, was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad last Friday after his blood pressure had fluctuated.

He was discharged on Sunday.

Rajinikanth's joining in politics had created a wave in Tamil Nadu politics which will witness crucial state polls in the first half of 2021.

Besides Rajinikath, his colleague Kamal Haasan has already launched his political party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) for the next year polls.
