No third party should interfere in Kashmir, says French president Macron standing in solidarity with Modi
Paris, Aug 22 (IBNS) France on Thursday categorically ruled out any third party interference on Kashmir issue in the wake of abrogation of Article 370 by India as Prime Minister Narendra Modi met French president Emmanuel Macron and thanked the European nation for backing India in combating terrorism, a scourge he said both the countries face.
"Prime Minister Modi told me everything about Kashmir and the situation in J&K during our talks. I said Pakistan and India will have to find a solution together and no third party should interfere or incite violence in the region," French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters after holding bilateral talks with PM Modi at the historic Château de Chantilly - about 60 km from Paris. They were meeting ahead of the G-7 meeting in France.
"Mr Modi told me about the recent decision taken by India and that it is in their sovereignty," President Macron said lending a huge moral support to India on its position on Kashmir and its internationalization by Pakistan and China. India recently scrapped Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir that had granted the state special powers.
Modi said the India-France friendship is essentially based on the three essential principles of liberty, equality and fraternity.
"The relationship between India and France is hundreds of years old. Our friendship is based on the principles of liberty, equality and fraternity and not selfishness....To fight cross border terror, France has always rendered invaluable support to India and for this I would like to thank President Emmanuel Macron," Modi said after bilateral talks with French President at Château de Chantilly.
He said India and France will further expand cooperation in counter terrorism and security.
"Both our countries are constantly facing terrorism. We thank President Macron for the valuable support that France has received in combating cross-border terrorism. We intend to broaden cooperation on security and counter-terrorism," Modi said.

There will be enhanced ties between India and France also in other vital sectors such as Climate Change, Environment, and Technology, the Prime Minister said.
Modi wished Macron for his leadership of France and the G-7 with a new vision and said "together we can pave the way for a safe and prosperous world."
"France and India stand firm together to meet the challenges of inclusive development of Climate Change, Environment, and Technology," the PM said.
