'No mask, no fuel': Odisha acts tough to curb COVID-19 spread

Bhubaneswar/IBNS: After the Odisha government took the decision to fine people for not wearing face masks outdoors, the Utkal Patroleum Dealers Association went a step ahead by making face masks mandatory to get fuel at pumping stations across the state to curb the COVID-19 spread, media reports said.

In one of the petrol pumping stations, a notice reading 'No Mask, No Petrol/Diesel/CNG' was spotted.

Several media reports also said people were denied rations by grocery shops here for not wearing masks.

The government has imposed a fine of Rs. 200 for not wearing masks in public.

If the same person is found violating the regulation for the second and third times, he or she will be fined by the same amount. For further violations, the penalty amount can go up to Rs. 500.

To stem the further spread of COVID-19, Odisha has already extended the lockdown across its state till Apr 30.

While 7,447 people have been infected across the country, Odisha has so far reported 48 positive Coronavirus cases.
